Most kitchen quotes are a single number, which makes them impossible to compare. Here is the same kitchen broken into its parts.
A 10-foot L-shaped kitchen has roughly 45 sq ft of base unit, 35 sq ft of wall unit and 20 sq ft of tall unit. At Rs 1,350 per sq ft in laminate that is about Rs 1.35 lakh for the carcass and shutters together.
Hardware is the part people underestimate. A basic set of soft-close hinges and channels for this kitchen costs about Rs 18,000. The same kitchen in Hettich with two pull-out baskets, a corner unit and a tandem drawer set crosses Rs 55,000.
The counter is separate. Granite runs Rs 180 to 350 per running foot fitted, quartz Rs 550 to 900. A lacquered glass backsplash adds about Rs 12,000 for this size.
Add the sink, chimney and hob, which you may buy yourself. A realistic total for a good laminate kitchen with decent hardware lands between Rs 2.2 and 2.8 lakh. Acrylic shutters push it to Rs 3.2 to 3.8 lakh.
When you compare quotes, ask for this same breakdown. If a vendor will not give it, the number is not comparable.
